Unpredictable weather conditions cause fluctuations in green electricity production, which reduces the security of supply and economic efficiency of the plants. But this is not inevitable. The solution: hybridisation, combining different power sources at a single location. “This is the application of the classic investment rule – risk diversification – to energy generation“, comments Patrick Lemcke-Braselmann, Co-CEO of the aream Group, which is considering hybridisation for its plants.
With the non-profit PowerOneForOne Foundation (POFO), founded in 2018, the aream Group is improving the living conditions of people in underdeveloped countries by providing green electricity while also strengthening the local economy. In 2025, for example, a solar power system with battery storage was installed on the roof of St. Bruno Vocational School in Uganda.
Renewable energies are growing faster than ever before: in the first three quarters of 2025, solar and wind power covered the entire global growth in demand – electricity generation from fossil fuels has stagnated for the first time since the pandemic. “This development is not only due to climate protection, but also to the economic efficiency of renewables“, comments Patrick Lemcke-Braselmann, Co-CEO of the aream Group.
The energy transition requires enormous investments – including at the municipal level. Municipal utilities need to modernise their networks and heating systems. However, they often lack the necessary capital. “Cooperation shows a way forward“, says Patrick Lemcke-Braselmann, Co-CEO of the aream Group.
