A heatwave grips Europe, while a cold snap hits Argentina – once again, the world is talking about the weather. Remarkably, people no longer seem to be as concerned about climate change itself. According to a survey by the Forsa Institute, only seven per cent of Germans still consider the climate to be one of the three most important issues. “Fortunately, the expansion of renewable energies in Germany is progressing, regardless of the attention-grabbing economic cycles“, says Patrick Lemcke-Braselmann, Co-CEO of aream Group SE.
Photovoltaics continue to gain momentum in Germany. According to the Federal Statistical Office, a good 4.2 million photovoltaic systems were installed on roofs and properties in March 2025, an increase of almost 24 per cent compared to the same month last year. Installed output was up by 22 per cent. And another record: photovoltaics supplied almost 14 per cent of total electricity fed into the grid in 2024.
The German plants in the aream portfolio benefited from the many hours of sunshine last month. However, curtailments of almost one GWh prevented higher yields. The target achievement was 91 per cent. The aream plants in Italy delivered a solid performance in June with good irradiation values (target achievement of 98 per cent). The Spanish plants suffered medium-voltage damage in May, resulting in the loss of around half of their output. This damage was repaired in mid-June, earlier than initially expected. With average irradiation, 65 per cent of the target value was already achieved in June.
The German wind turbines in the aream portfolio produced a very good result: strong winds meant that the target value was exceeded by almost 27 per cent.
