Renewable energy production was mixed in August. Photovoltaic systems were exactly on plan, with Italy even above plan. However, wind power output remained weak, only 83 percent of the target was reached. This means that the buffer built up over the course of the year is also melting away.

The pandemic crisis has shown the vulnerability of society. Although the infrastructure was only affected to a very limited extent, energy production and distribution in particular are highly critical. "Renewable energies are much less vulnerable than other energy sources and will therefore become the backbone of the energy supply," says Markus W. Voigt, CEO of aream Group.

Renewable energy production in July was very mixed: While photovoltaic systems reported a target achievement of 105 percent, wind turbines achieved 91 percent of their planned value. This can be seen from the current figures of the aream Group.

In the first half of the year, more than half of Germany's electricity requirements were covered by renewable energy sources. A record. And what happened? Nothing! The grids remained stable, the lamps were on, the electricity came out of the socket. It turns out that the expressed fears of some market participants about incalculable electricity loads caused by green electricity are rather untenable assumptions.
